6th Form Uniform and Equipment

6th Form Uniform Expectations

The beginning of Key Stage 5 is a new chapter in the transition to adulthood.  With this in mind, as a Sixth Form, it is important that our students present themselves in a manner that reflects our expectations of upholding our high standards at all times.

Appearance has a huge impact on the overall perceptions of an educational institution.  As the Sixth Form is a collective of our most successful students, we require them to be role models in every way, including their appearance.  As a result, The Westgate School have a Dress Code which was devised by our current students, for our Sixth Form, in order to maintain standards:

Male Dress Code

Dressed in professional business wear, which displays an example to our younger male members of the school.

  • Trousers – Tailored trousers are permitted, either individually or as part of a suit.
  • Shirts/Ties – Buttoned dress shirts must include a collar. Ties are to be worn.
  • Jumpers – Smart plain jumpers may be worn over a collared shirt, but these must not include excessive branding of any kind.
  • Blazers/Suit Jackets – A blazer or jacket are not essential but are more than acceptable.
  • Shoes – Formal footwear is to be worn, nothing that could be deemed as trainers.

Denim, leather, hoodies, casual suede (coats, jackets, shirts, skirts, trousers) are not considered professional/business wear.
