6th Form Uniform Expectations
The beginning of Key Stage 5 is a new chapter in the transition to adulthood. With this in mind, as a Sixth Form, it is important that our students present themselves in a manner that reflects our expectations of upholding our high standards at all times.
Appearance has a huge impact on the overall perceptions of an educational institution. As the Sixth Form is a collective of our most successful students, we require them to be role models in every way, including their appearance. As a result, The Westgate School have a Dress Code which was devised by our current students, for our Sixth Form, in order to maintain standards:
Male Dress Code
Dressed in professional business wear, which displays an example to our younger male members of the school.
- Trousers – Tailored trousers are permitted, either individually or as part of a suit.
- Shirts/Ties – Buttoned dress shirts must include a collar. Ties are to be worn.
- Jumpers – Smart plain jumpers may be worn over a collared shirt, but these must not include excessive branding of any kind.
- Blazers/Suit Jackets – A blazer or jacket are not essential but are more than acceptable.
- Shoes – Formal footwear is to be worn, nothing that could be deemed as trainers.
Denim, leather, hoodies, casual suede (coats, jackets, shirts, skirts, trousers) are not considered professional/business wear.
Female Dress Code
Dressed in professional business wear, which displays an example to our younger female members of the school.
- Skirts and Dresses – Should be formal/tailored and around knee-length
- Trousers – Should be formal/tailored trousers.
- Jackets/Blazers – Should be tailored if you want to wear one or professional looking cardigans are acceptable
- Tops/Shirts/Blouses – Tops should be what you would find in a formal professional setting without the presence of logos and ensuring that an inappropriate amount skin is not showing.
- Shoes – Formal footwear, nothing that would be deemed as trainers Inc.’ canvas footwear.
- Jewellery – discrete jewellery
An 'abaya' maybe worn if girls choose to however smart business wear must be worn underneath and their smart jacket is to be worn over the top of the abaya.

6th Form Equipment Expectations
We believe that our students need to be ready to learn as soon as they enter their classrooms. To enable this to occur, students need to be fully equipped for their school day. Please see below for a list of requirements for Sixth Form:
- A bag large enough to hold A4 folders
- A diary/planner or 'to-do list' book
- A4 folders for each subject
- Plastic wallets
- Dividers
- A4 lined paper (pre-punched and easy to file in folders)
- A USB for saving work
- A calculator (many A-Level subjects including Mathematics require one)
A pencil case which includes:
- Pencils
- Ruler
- Black/blue pens (black pens are a requirement in exams)
- A green pen for corrections
- Eraser
- Highlighters
- Post-it notes
